2006 Annual Conference The Oklahoma Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators held their 2006 Annual Conference in Tulsa, Oklahoma October 25, 26, and 27, 2006. The Conference provided training on investigation skills related to “GONE WITHOUT A TRACE”.
The “GONE WITHOUT A TRACE” conference included 16 Hours of CLEET Continuing Education Credits for Certified Oklahoma Peace Officers and Licensed Private Investigators. The conference also provided 16 Hours Continuing Education Credits for Oklahoma Insurance Adjusters and for Oklahoma Bar Association Members.
ATF Agent Amy Michaud presented Lab Trace Evidence on how the investigator can be successful in gathering trace evidence. Her presentation included information on how the lab processes evidence and what an investigator can do to make the Lab be successful in processing the evidence that is submitted.
Fire Photography was presented by Fire Investigator Mark Spoo of the River Grove, Illinois Fire Department. His presentation provided information on Why to use, What to use, How to use, How to preserve and How to present photos. He included information on 35mm and digital photography usage in investigations.
Mike Lippmann of State Farm Insurance, a Past President of the Oklahoma Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators, gave a presentation on how Hurricane Katrina created challenges for Fire Investigators. The Handling the Mentally Ill course was also a part of the agenda.
Fred Henderson, Norman Fire Department, was recognized as the Oklahoma Chapter IAAI Investigator of the Year.
